Bluebird day 4!

Today was a very early morning for me! I got up at 6:30 so I could meet Patty and the Bluebird trailer by 6:45. I made sure to wear my Bluebird Baker sweatshirt, it’s an unofficial uniform of sorts.

I took everything in as I walked to the trailer. It was so nice and sunny and quiet at that time in the morning. We loaded the food into the trailer from her car and set up the coffee station outside as well. Lindsay O'Brien joined us around 7 to help finish setting up and to man the coffee station. I got myself some hot chai and started cutting bagels.

We had one toaster and one toaster oven. That ended up being extremely helpful because I could toast four bagels at once then, one in the toaster and three in the toaster oven. There was a big rush right at the beginning and I almost immediately sold out of the everything bagels!

Once classes started things slowed down, but we still had people coming. I was worried people wouldn’t want the plain bagels after they heard the everything was sold out, but everyone who got one was happy they had gotten there in time before they all sold out. I sold the last bagel right before assembly.

While Patty went over to assembly to be with her advisees I stayed back and filled some more orders. We started cleaning up around 10:15. There were still some of Patty’s baked goods left so I was given free rein to any of them. I grabbed a pumpkin ginger muffin and a piece of banana chocolate chip pound cake for later. One of the nice bonuses of working in the Bluebird trailer is all the free samples I get! My favorite treat of the day was a piece of coconut lime pound cake! I logged 4 hours today which brings my total to 14 hours. I’ll be back in the woods tomorrow so check back to see what I make! - Sophie

  1. Must have felt great to sell out of your bagels - I'm not surprised, though, those things are tasty. Keep up the great work, Sophie!
